Job Title: Optometrist

Specialty: Primary eye care / ambulatory optometry

Place of Work (City/State): Winterhaven, CA

Site: Fort Yuma Health Care Center

Exact Location: 401 Picacho Road, Winterhaven, CA 92283

Duration: 1 year contract with the possibility of 4 more extensions

Shift Schedule:

• Monday Friday, 08:00AM 05:00PM Pacific Time

Credentialing / Onboarding Time: 6 8 weeks

License: Active, unrestricted Optometry license in any U.S. State, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Territory

Certifications:

• BLS from an AHA or ARC.

Education: Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) from an accredited institution.

Experience Needed: Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in primary eye care, ambulatory optometry, or a closely related setting.

Special Skills Needed:

• EHR documentation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain credentialing and clinical privileges.

Responsibilities:

• Comprehensive eye exams, vision assessments, refractions, and follow-up evaluations.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage refractive error and ocular disease. Prescribe medications as authorized.
• Prescribe corrective lenses and communicate eyewear and optical ordering information.
• Perform or interpret diagnostic testing and perform minor ocular procedures within privileges.
• Refer to ophthalmology, emergency care, or other specialty care when needed.
• Document all encounters in the EHR.
• Follow instrument sanitation and reprocessing requirements.
